5 things i dont like about malay weddings

1. its rather annoying and disrespectful when the bride and groom arrives awfully late. like if the makan makan starts at 12 noon, i think it is just wrong if the celebrated couple turns up at the kenduri at like, 3pm? during my wedding 3 years ago we were specifically told by my mother to be at the reception by 12 noon, the peak hour when the guests start arriving. we were told to salam, meet and greet EVERY single guest that came to our wedding as token of appreciation.

2. it is also annoying and disrespectful when bride and groom choose to do their photoshoot DURING the makan makan. the guests really have to make an effort to get inside the already packed house to meet the bride and groom, if they are lucky. most of the time the pengantin will probably be locked in their room for the photoshoot session. i personally think that this can and should be done before or after the reception took place.after all dont we have this pre-wedding and outdoor photoshoot?photoshooting during the reception should only be for the photos of the pengantin WITH the guests.

3. i understand that due to space limit and time flexibility, guests at malay weddings usually eat at their own convenience, whether instantly upon arriving or before they leave. it is normal for guests to come and go as they eat, and the food is served buffet style. i wish they didn't do it like this during my wedding. i wish it was done properly like they do in western wedding, where every guests are assigned their own seat, everybody sat together and say their prayers and wishes for the pengantin before everybody starts eating.

4. again, problem number 3 arises possibly because they number of guests invited is rather too large. the normal number of guests for a malay wedding usually exceeds 1000 to 2000. i think the person who should get invited to your wedding are those who actually know you personally, not just some random or mutual acquitance who MAY or may not know you. kawan kepada sepupu ipar pengantin should not be in your guest list if you know what i mean.

5. im not sure if anyone would agree with this, but i think wedding gifts (hadiah hantaran) between the bride and groom should not be displayed for the public. same applies with the amount of dowry the bride gets, it should not be revealed except between close family members. When i was getting married, i had this idea of putting all the gifts i bought for my future husband into these beautifully covered traditional wooden box, but my mother and a few other relatives were so againts it i had to forget the whole plan. My reason for not displaying the gifts: no 1, it should be a surprise, something that only the receiver knows, and reason number 2, it can lead riak (showing off).

truth is, i cant wait for the day when my daughter gets married and have her wedding reception. i wont interfere with her planning, but i sure will guide her to make sure the above mentioned 5 things can be prevented or avoided.

im a teacher by profession, but i wish i had a completely different career, a career that calls for regular travelling here and there. i wish that when my daughter grows up she will have a job that requires her to jet-set all over the world, but then if she does end up working that kind of job, she will probably wish she has a stable, children-friendly job like her mother did, because its human nature to want what they dont or cant have. a doctor may wish she is a full time housewife married to a well-paid husband. a housewife probably wish she works in an office earning steady income, etc etc.

i dont completely hate my job, but sometimes i wonder what it would be like if i am not a teacher. would i still live the same life, fall in love with the same guy and hold the same mindset about things?

huarrghhhh!!yesterday i lost 300g but today i gained another 200g. yes, grams not kilograms.when it comes to weight watch im very berkira and specific, thanks to my sis-in-law's digital scale which i usually use without her permission haha.

ohkay my current weight is 53.5kg. before i 'accidentaly' got pregnant, my weight was ONLY 46kg.then due to extreme happiness (and extreme amount of pampering from husband) i gained an extra 30kg during my pregnancy, YES. i gradually started to lose weight after my sweet cencomot cute little baby was born, with the help of breastfeeding (each breastfeeding session help burns 500 kcal) and by literally eating less, i managed to lose around 20kg plus.

im not really in a hurry to get back to my pre-pregnant weight because right now im eating to produce enough milk for the baby, still the thing that bothers me most is MY flabby stomach. when i was pregnant it got really big everyone assumed i was carrying a set of twins. turned out my baby was born rather small, weighing at only 2.9 kg and it was maternal fat that made me look big, not the baby.

today im 'trying' to watch my weight, sometime i made it sometime i fail miserably, so i would like to share this with whoever is reading my blog with some tips on how to get a flat stomach. this is more like a reminder to myself.

1. aviod soft drinks. drink plenty of plain water.

2. replace junk food and choc with fruits.

3. increase the frequency of your meals to 6-8 times a day (small portion meals).

4. only eat carbohydrates before 2:00 p.m, from then on only proteins.

5.don't eat anything 2 hours before you sleep

6.don't eat past 9:30 pm, because food eaten after 9:30 pm are normally stored as fat.

7. some of the best exercise for achieving flat stomach are abdominal crunches, vaccum pose and belly ru blah blah blah...im totally skipping the exercise part because i hate working out and im never gonna do it.

okay here's a proper update hehe.

i got this recipe from my mother.when i was younger, my mother made (she no longer bakes these days) superb moist choc cake and homemade donuts.it never occurred to me to learn from her until two years ago when i wanted to impress my mother in law (didn't happen, haha), and now that i have a baby girl i'm planning to practice before she turns 1 next may so that she can enjoy mama's homemade donuts just like i did enjoy my mother's.

2 cups of wheat flour

1 pinch of salt

2 teaspoon of sugar

1 spoonful of milk powder

2 teaspoon of yeast

an egg

1 teaspoon margerine

mix the yeast with half a cup of warm water.put aside.mix everything else together, pour in the yeast, knead the dough until firm.you know the rest right?

the kneading part is the most depressing part for me because the dough tends to get all gooey-like, its so annoying.i usually add in more flour so that means the recipe above is pretty invalid haha.btw i use nutella as the choc spread and you can use any of those cute sprinkles they usually put on top of cupcakes.

i wish i could have my own farm, rear my own kambing and ayam and grow my own vegetables. food these days, the processed ones available on the market or made to order food served at restaurants are either too contaminated with perservatives or poisoned with artificial flavorings.and how am i supposed to feed my fetus nutritiously (if theres such a word)?

my pregnant tongue has become too sensitive with what kind of food im putting in my mouth these days.im completely off kfc, mcd of any other fast food.last night i was making myself a burger, imagine i fried the patties without even using oil, but when im done all these fats came oozing out of these patties it completely dissolved my appetite.so disgusting.youre eating chicken burger yet you have no idea what chicken part youre eating.for all i know there could be chicken ass or eyeball in that.itu baru processed food. lets not talk about food with flavouring.saya paling pantang dgn AJINOMOTO.even before pregnancy.do you know that this kind of flavouring can affect children's growth?mothers, please, dont use maggie cukup rasa dan yg sewaktu dgnnya in your cooking.tak baik aniaya anak anak sendiri.masak untuk husband pun saya tak sanggup bubuh.he's too comel for all the f*ckery.

even at schools, the canteen usually serve sausages, nuggets and jajan.susah nak cari fruits, but fried food is abundant.it breaks my heart tgk anak anak orang melayu makan makanan tak berkhasiat while growing up :'( anak mat salleh eat yogurt, apples, energy bar, salad and sandwich for lunch (based on my observation on what my friends eat when i was in UK dulu).

my adik adik pun makan cekedis@jajan macam orang tua makan nasi.and my heart just sank.

basically this is how the baby looks like this week.of course it will change again next week (it will grow tiny flaps which will eventually turn into arms and legs)

i found out about my pregnancy a few days earlier. well some parents choose to wait for a while before annoucing the good news while some parents prefer to shout it out to the world from the rooftop.we are the latter kind of parents :)

according to the website i have been religiously reading, my due date will be on the 27th may 2009. the quickening (thats when the baby will start moving, tickling and kicking your belly) is expected to be on the 23rd dec hehe.im in my 6th week!

a lot has happened since my last update, of course, but i simply chose not to write in here because well, i dont think its worth mentioning. i have also taken A LOT of self pictures but in the end they all got sent into the digicam garbage bin because everytime i snapped one and take a look at it i'd go thinking; gosh, perasannye muke aku!. its true.i havent reach the full fledge sell-obsessiveness yet. but if i do, please tell me off, i would appreaciate that very much.

i have been quite in a foul mood lately, and to nurse my perasaan mengada ngada this weekend (it was a lonely weekend) i have gone to the hair salon to get my hair done (finally) and went window shopping (and actual shopping) at One Borneo alone. i didnt tell this to my husband but there was this one guy, he tried to hit on me, asked for my phone number and everyhting, siap ajak bukak puasa sama sama, i used an excuse saying that a friend is waiting for me, and got away.bodoh.why are the most straightforward men always have to be NOT good looking?i mean, dont ever expect a cute guy running after you for your phone number.at least that didnt happened to me. during my single days i had to tell this particular cute guy to 'flirt me'.luckily it worked, and he's my husband now :)

its 3 am already.i should just go back to sleep.watch this space, who knows, maybe next time i will have the gut to post narcissist photos of myself (hope not!) :)

since i'll be returning back to kk on the next day, my husband decided to take me out for dinner right after buka puasa. we went to damiral's grill, which in my opinion, is alor star's version of manhattan fish market. the food is almost at par with those avalailable at MFM but with a much cheaper price range of course. this was our second time here.the first one was exactly a year ago, as papa pointed out, when we celebrated our 2nd year anni :)

and after the s4e22, i thought michael died because of the brain disease or whatever it was in his head.
but after 'the final break' or s4e23-e24 as some would name it, it was because of something else.

this time around, i took my husband's pakngah and makngah (aka nik's parents in law) jalan jalan around kk and kundasang.i know there are at least three posts in here in which i talked about kundasang but i just dont care im still going to publish the pictures.

seriously if any of you ever consider coming to sabah, Kinabalu Pine Resort is the one place that you should never avoid.being there is like being transported to Switzerland, i swear.

it is my husband's turn to blog about our sabahan vacation this time, but when i reminded him of it he blushed and said "baby la tulis ek?" :) hehe ok. we stayed at the seaside travelers inn in kinarut, which is like, 10 minutes drive from my house.this inn is probably the locals best kept secret because even my sabahan friends have never heard of it.i'd say 90% of the people who stayed there were mat sallehs.it is a small inn by the seaside.the place itself was nothing 'major' as posh beckham would call it, but the restaurant faces the sea,and its really cute plus its cheap too (rm140 for two nights stay inclusive of breakfast)

the food sucked, eventhough the cook took the entire afternoon to prepare my fish and chips

they even have a mini library for the guests

that night we went shirt hunting at warisan square because papa needed a new shirt for a wedding reception which will take place on saturday.we ended up buying two shirts from F.O.S and SEED because there were on sale.

at the wedding.it was my gpk's daughter's wedding ;p

later that day my husband took me to california grill to celebrate my extremely belated birthday.yay!!!

he got me a birthday card, which he made himself.sangat sangat comel!! ;)

the food was sooooo good, worth every penny

thinking of what to order? :)

we bumped into azreen and serra at one borneo.they were celebrating their 1st year anniversary in sabah.sigh.too bad not everyone could make it for the gathering.saya pun busy jalan dengan suami.

on sunday, we went snorkling at pulau mamutik.we both agree that mamutik is nothing compared to manukan.my husband taught me snorkling and swimming, and at one point, he made me go far from the shore and he left me there screaming for him.thats what you get for marrying a ketam.

the scary boat ride.half way reaching the island, it started to rain,the waves were crazy i thought our boat was going to capsize.

this is Ariff, Ayu's (One In A Million) little brother.he is my year 6 pupil (randy's classmate).this boy is illiterate.he cannot read AT ALL.but attitude-wise, i have no complaint.so far he has been very sweet to me.and almost obedient.

sgt sedih to think that im surrounded by 12 year olds who still cant read.i jokingly told ariff "when you grow up you can be your sister's gold digger".but deep down i have great pity for him and his friends....

i tried my best for them, but being in a position where im solely responsible for this year's english upsr performance in my school, i simply cannot afford to go back to basics and teach them how to read.there are just too many pupils to attend to and there's too little time left..

for those who frequently fly with Air Asia, this entry might be a little obsolete for you to read.it is about an article i read in their in-flight magazine, Travel 360 earlier last month.

lets say if youre pregnant, and you have to make an emergency trip to, say, Canada during your final trimester.so you got your doctor's approval to fly, and as youre on board, during the air travel you ended up giving birth on the plane.WHILE UP IN THE AIR.

the question here is, how do you determine the baby's place of birth (P.O.B) and his/her nationality?.here comes the interesting part. according to the article, the first hospital the baby was admitted to after he/she was disembarked from the plane will be considered as her P.O.B. and her nationality will depend on the country which the plane is registered.

so lets see.if the mother is a Malaysian, boarding on a Canadian airline, was on her way to Canada but due to her circumstance, her flight has to make an emergency landing lets say, in India, and the baby is first warded there, that means her birth cert will state that she was born in Hospital Manikamkarupiahwhatever, India but she is considered a Canadian, eventhough the parents are both Malaysians.cool huh??

there was also rumors saying that if you give birth on a plane the airline company will grant your baby free air travel for the rest of his/her life.and it was also rumoured that it is the reason why pregnant women are banned from flying, because they dont want to risk giving out free tickets! :) not sure if thats true or not though :)

on my sister's request, i would like to dedicate this post to her fave pet cat lucy, who died unexpectedly, at the hands of a moronic vet and her equally brainless assistant.

she was born on july 2008

passed away on 12 july 2009

she had 6 cute kittens with her persian boyfriend, brandon
unfortunately all her kittens died a few days after they were born because lucy suffered mastitis and couldnt feed her youngs.they died of starvation.

cause of lucy's death:
a few hours before her death, she was as healthy as a horse.my sister sent her to a local gov vet to get her ears cleaned.and hour after the return from the vet, lucy vomited, had breathing difficulties, mouth foaming and she passed away at 2.30am, with my sister and her boyfriend izwan trying to help but to no avail.

apparently, lucy was allergic to some of the medication (it might be the solution used to clean her ear or it might be the antibiotic). what pissed us to the max was the fact that the vet did not even apologize and described the whole incident as 'unfortunate'.

i did call the clinic to bash those people (the vet and her assistant), and of course as expected we couldnt get any compensation out of this because we had no prove.

among the things that the dumb*** vet said that boiled me with rage was:
"if you wanted excellent service, you should not have come to us, you should have gone a private vet.we did our best"

and among my reply was:
"did you just admit your incompetency?maybe you should just quit, STUPID vet!!"

her kittens! they were born on 23rd june, my sister's 24th birthday.me and my husband bought flight tickets to kl in august just to see them.unfortunately they are gone :(

to explain our long absence from the blogging world.

friday 3rd july: my husband was supposed to be on his way to kk for his monthly visit.but on thursday his father went unconcious and was submitted to the intensive care unit in hospital selayang.we had no choice but to cancel all of my husbands' flight to and fro alor star kk.not to mention all the paid and unpaid hotel reservations which were made months ago.and instead of him coming to kk, i took the plane to kl on that very friday morning.

ayah passed away peacefully on the hospital bed surrounded not only by his wife and children, but relatives, friends and neighbours.

as i looked and browsed through an old photo album containing pictures of ayah during his younger days, i thought to myself "he was such a good man, he had a great life, a stunning loyal woman as a wife, and he was a good father, grandfather and friend"

but as much as i have accepted that he's gone, it crushes my heart to think that my children will never get to meet this wonderful funny man and call him their 'jadun'.and this coming raya was supposed to be our first raya together.

my husband handled the whole thing surprisingly well. he proves to me that underneath that childish inddiferent attitude, there is a strong matured man who deals with new tough responsibilities pretty well.

may you rest in peace, ayah.i promise i will take care of mak, and your one and only son.

i went to sipitang last weekend.my best friend's place.just to see what its like over there.have you ever wondered what does an interior school (sekolah pedalaman) looks like?an skm (sekolah kurang murid) some more?

the whole event itself was boring as hell. so i'll just skip and go straight to the interesting part.

they served us a six course meal of chinese food, with chinese tea.no cold drinks.i couldnt stand it so i asked for an orange soft drink.and the waitress served me this:

thats right, dalam gelas carlsberg.all the other teachers at the table (who are mostly muslims) acted like nothings wrong.

and i alwayd thought that bow tie and waitress vest dont go with denim skirt, until i saw this waitress:

and finally, the dessert.in the menu it says that its some sort of bean curd with longan bla bla bla.after a few sips, suddenly one of our non muslim colleagues who was sitting at our table told us to stop eating because she said she "tasted wine" in the dessert.MOST of us just stop eating, and everyone was cool about it.there was ONE malay teacher who continued eating hahaha.and seriuosly, i did taste it a bit, and if thats how wine tastes like, im glad we muslim are forbidden from drinking it.tak sedap ok.

but the main point is, NO ONE complaint.im sure if this happened in semenanjung, this is going to be a BIG issue.the organizer might even get sued, like seriously.tapi orang sabah ni cool ja ba.

as for me, i dont think i was offended or anything, but it made me wonder for a few seconds whether the chicken i ate just then is halal or not. and what actually offended me is the fact that they have kareoke session during the entire event. i mean, having to hear a few guru besars singing dangdut songs was definitely a nightmare. they make the songs sound even more abusive to listen to.no offense.(ps: my gb didnt sing)

i watched batman begins last night. have tried to watch it before (3 years ago?) but it was a pirated vcd. haram apa pun tak nampak so it ruined the mood for me to continue watching.

so, while watching it, nampak la sorang mamat nih. tyson jay ritter? it's not logical so i thought it might be someone else who has a similar (dekat2 la) face like him. i checked and it was a guy named cillian murphy (acting as the scarecrow).

whose culture it is exactly?i always thought its a malay culture, if not an islamic culture.but in my shcool where 90% of the pupils are christians, this practice is quite common among them.

so is it safe to say that is it part of the malaysian culture?or the effect of cultural diversity has got them confused?still, it is nice though when they hold and kiss my hand before they go home.adorable, these kids.

i graduated from a six years teaching course.started it since i was 18..i completely wasted
my late teen hood to be a teacher.

i went abroad (sabah) to work for the first time in my life

i received my first pay in a total sum of four months salary: RM12k!

i got married to the gedikest man ever (highest achievement so far)

i bought my first car

it has been a great year indeed.welcome 25!!

this is randy.my year 6 pupil.his mother is an american, and his father is of brunei descendant.these details wouldnt have mattered except that randy's english proficiency is among the worst in his class (mind you, his class is the lowest ranking in standard 6).i understand that he was born and brought up in sabah, but his mother speaks english with heavy american accent!how could this happen?i dont think i know.

i entered his class for the first time today (i have been transferred to teach in the morning session) and here's what happened.

i was teaching 'modals' (could, would etc) and as i pointed to the word COULD, i ask randy to pronounce it.maka dengan confidentnya si randy jawab: AWAN! (he thought it was CLOUD)

cute, but do you see my point here?i wasnt even asking for the meaning of the word, i was telling him to say it out loud.not only he couldnt pronounce it, he gave the wrong definition.lawak la budak ni..there i was, a flat nosed brown skined asian pathetically trying to teach this boy something that was supposed to be his mother tongue :)

anyway randy and his mates were such a good sport today.the class clowns helped to cheer up my dull lesson.people say budak kelas corot are naughty and out of control.maybe they are wrong.or maybe today is my lucky day :)

im doing it again.here is my crappy (and extremely brief) movie reviews for this week.

blood: the last vampire.

very disappointing.first of all, the main character is all too gloomy.konon konon macam intense ar.the cute school girl uniform did not help at all.the movie was mainly about a half blood vampire whose main aim in life is to seek revenge on her father's death.LAME.what is it with you vampires anyway?it seems like they hold grudges for long, and every movie made about them revolves around the same theme.being a thousand years old should make you wiser, not the other way round. same goes out to you edward cullen and the gang.your species are lame and outdated (twilight rabid fangirls are going to hate me for this ;p)

believe me, this is not your typical horror movie.this is one movie that can guarantee you to shit in your pants.if you have a weak heart, or if youre a jumpy person, TOLONG LA jangan tengok movie ni ok.i was quite surprised i came out of the movie theatre still breathing.sangat terkejut ok.

unfortunate events part II

remember when i blogged about missing my flight?well obviously one poor soul who was supposed to board the 9.30pm flight did not make it, BECAUSE eventhough the air asia officers said earlier that the flight was already full, they let me pass through and i boarded the plane at the very last minute! (mind you, it costs us an extra rm500 for that).

anyway the curse didnt just stop there.i reached kk at 12 midnight.there were LOOOOOONNNNG queues at the immigration counters at the airport, that by the time i got through, it was almost 12.30 am.and not wanting to disturb my kk friends, i decided to take the airport limo service home.but the minute the lady at the counter said 'that would be rm38', i gasped (i was penniless, remember?) but i paid anyway.i forgot they charge double fare after 11.30pm.

when i reached home (please note that all my housemates will only return from semenanjung next afternoon so i was the first to arrive), to my horror, they changed the padlocks of our front gate and the entrance door!! and without even teling me about it!imagine what it was like: it was 1 am in the morning, i had three giant bags with me, there was no one around, the whole street was so quiet, it was so dark, i didnt know any of our neighbours, there were three big dogs loitering about just a few metres away from me, and top it off, it started to rain!

i tried to call EVERYONE i know in kk, but no one answered.well what did i expect? of course theyve gone to bed already.i kept trying and trying and trying (praying that my already-low hp battery wont go dead) and finally my gpk (cikgu anisah) answered.

she came to my rescue that night.thank god for her.i slept in her daughters bedroom, feeling so restless i wish i never have to wake up again.

with the recent ~~shit~~ unfortunate incident that happened to my wife, i must say i don't have any positive feeling coming to work today, other than relieved and grateful that she's somehow safe at her home in kk now.
i guess we had it coming, with the 'jerebu' thing and how bad the ipu in kl and selangor is now.
i wish i was there to at least be with her but there wasn't really much i can do to change it then.
well, shit happens and at least i could say we earn and learn the lesson.
let's try to make sure we won't fall into the same pit twice.
and i believe the same goes to those other persons who shared the same fate.

patut la pagi tadi sangat bad mood

im blogging from LCCT airport.the thing is, i missed my 7.30pm flight to kota kinabalu.the reason being: my flight from alor star reached lcct later than expected due to weather problems.

the minute the officer in charge told me i can no longer check in, i BURST into tears.can you imagine?im all alone and im penniless.luckily papa talked to the guy through phone to see if theres anyhting he could do to help me.

right now im still waiting for the officer to inform me on my flight status.sure, the 7.30pm flight already left, but they said they could get me into the next flight IF there are passengers who fail to check in in time.

damn it.damn it.damn it.

papa, i dont know how would i survive without you.thank you for being so calming and sweet.too bad youre a few states away from me.your body smell alone can help erase this stupid experience from my memory box.

before i return to kk..

i dont even know why do i still bother writing anyway.its not like there's much to talk about, let alone any interesting happenings that can be shared.tomorrow my flight from alor star to kk will be at 5.40pm.in short i'll be arriving in kk at about 10pm. i hate to leave my husband, but at the same time i terribly miss my life in kk.

personally, kerepek kerepek are sooo not my thing but since my colleagues have successfully made me feel guilty in the past because i did not bring back any souvenir from semenanjung, so this time im like, 'oh what the hell, beli je la ape pun'. fyi, in sabah they dont have kuih peneram, cakar ayam, keropok bawang and such.

we went out to jitra mall to watch angels and demons last night.with my best friend amad and her sabahan bf who happens to be in town this week.apparently he's here to discuss an important matter with the family *hint.good luck to both of them.to be honest im sick of seeing my dearest bestfriend 'swinging' here and there, so its time for her to settle down and be completely happy with one person she loves. i think i suck at doing movie reviews, but i must say angels and demons is a must watch movie.it has been ages since we watched any clever movie like this one.like my papa said, it made us feel like our IQ level has just increased to another 30 points :) go and watch it, if you care.

when your husband goes out to work, as a temporary housewife, what do you do? (apart from playing the computer games and watching the movies he donwloaded earlier).oh yeah today i decided to be a bit of bree, and in my attempt to make my husband gain weight, today i made an extra effort to drag my lazy self away from the computer to prepare his fave dish.

for lunch:

ikan bawal sweet sour

ingredients:
onion, garlic, a bit of ginger, chilli sauce, chilli, pineapple cubes, cucumber and ikan bawal of course.

for tea time:

popia cheese

ingredients:
popia skin, onion, garlic, cabbage, carrot, black pepper, oyster sauce, chicken and cheese.

use slice cheese like kraft singles.cut the slice into thin strips, one strip for each popia.
sorry for the lack of the exact quatity and measurement of the ingredients, because i seriuosly dont know.letak sesuka hati saja.ikut sedap rasa.in my husband's case, he is sensitive with salty food and black pepper, so i use less of those.

ok now if you'll excuse me, i have some ricochet game to finish.

im back in semenanjung.and we made it to arip and harry's akad nikah ceremony and wedding reception, yay! the akad nikah took place in masjid bandar baru sentul (is it?) and the reception was held in dewan tun blablablabla in wisma sejarah, both in the same day.

after seven years together, they finally got married :)

cayalah barca menang. congrats to them for have given manu double-spank in the butt each on both cheeks. brilliant display by them especially from their midfield duo iniesta and xavi. they were the better team and the worthy winners. for now at least, i won't be hearing any manc's bigheaded 'poyo' fan speaking arrogantly of their so-called greatest football team in the world. watching crybaby ronaldo's annoyed face in the entire game was priceless.

btw, i found this couple of days ago from the drawer.

i guess it belongs to my 3rd sister, kakteh (probably from her teen days in uiam) because there’s no way kaklong or kakngah (or mak? ayah???) watched this kind of drama. spa-q dgn hindustan layan la.
during my u days, some of my female friends (wani, alin, ice i think) have been quite fanatics of the series and rain himself. so, being the curious me, i decided to give it a try. nothing wrong with that right?

being a japanese anime fan, i don’t really like korean movies particularly because of the way they talk. no offense, but I just think that japanese language is cooler (walaupun tak paham sepatah haram).
however, after watching the first episode of full house, i’m starting to have a liking for it.
i still haven’t changed my mind about the lingo, but the heroin (nama apa taktau?) is kind of cute. tak control langsung but still funnily cute. heh. therefore, i decided to bear with it (the slang and the jiwangness) for the entire series just for the sake of her.
don’t worry baby. i promise. i won’t forget you. but that doesn't mean i will forget her *galak.

today after the school-level teachers day celebration, my colleagues and i went to see this movie: (i hate to admit!) syurga cinta.WHY THIS MOVIE?well dah org belanja, tgk je la kan? :)

should i even bother writing the review?.the answer is:OF COURSE!hehe.

well.the storyline, plot and whatnot: typical je.but the kid who played awal's little brother, haziq is a real performer.he's a natural born actor.except that he talks a bit like mat salleh celup.(budak kl memang cakap cmtu ek?).and as for encik awaludin ashaari, i have decided to be extra nice today, so i'll say it.i think awal looks kinda HOT in this movie (im going to slap my mouth for saying this).i really like some of the outfit he wears, and he looks cute in jubah and serban too! :).they helped to divert my eyes from his face hahahaha.and heliza?

heliza heliza heliza...lets just say she could learn a thing or two from haziq.she was so EFFING ANNOYING right from the beginning.get this: in this film, you can see her holding a book almost the entire time.tau la cikguuuu....tapi agak agak la.tunggu bas pun bace buku.makan kat restoran pun bace buku.and there was this one part when awal offered to send her home she said: "takpelah, lagipun saya nak ke kedai buku, beli buku rujukan" hahahahahaha.cikgu saiko.

ye.serves me right.sape suruh tgk kan? :)

i went shoe shopping the other day.despite being hopelessly broke.it was totally unplanned. i parked my car in front of mcd (api api branch) which is opposite center point. i walked from there to the shoe shop.

when im done, i quickly rushed back to my car because i realized i was 1 hour and 15 minutes late(!!!). (i paid for one hour parking tiket only).as i drove my way out of the parking lot, this parking attendant stoped my car and checked my parking coupon.

he said "kenapa kau lambat ni??"

then he saw my vincci plastic bag.

"ooowhh...beli kasut kaa...perempuan, biasa la..." and he smiled.

phew.i smiled back and asked: "tiada extra charge?"

he replied: "nda apa la.kau pergi lah"

thehehehe.seronoknya aku. the world will be a much better place if we have more considerate and tolerant people like that pakcik. the fact that he purposely overlooked my overdue parking because he knew i was spending too much time choosing shoes was simply sweet!

but i guess it's never our choice.

it's one thing to be snobbish or so full of himself. i can still tolerate with that because i know people are sometimes mistaken between confidence and arrogance (and that goes to me as well). but to think that for not even once he could be wrong about something, that's just way over the line. and using bad words and cursing on every chance he has like it's the air he breathes: utterly out of order. not saying that i'm an angel or anything but just wish that for once, that person could realize that the world doesn't revolve around him alone.

luckily i don't have a friend like that.

last night, just like any other night, i was bored:

dec. 02. my family with late atuk and wan (my mother's step mother) during raya at jinjang utara. kaklong takdak raya dgn fam. husband. ayah dileteri mak selepas gambar ini dicuci kerana memakai selipar. i thought it was cool though. lgpun baru lepas sembahyang raya. last raya celebrated with late atuk before he passed away...(al-fatihah). some say, i resemble him in some way that i'm gonna look like him in the future. hmmm... kami mmg kacak.

all boys and men. semua masih mampu utk tersenyum dan kontrol hensem meskipun di tgh panas. some are already married and even have kids now.

i seriously dont like the way teachers are portrayed in our malaysian dramas and films. yeah i know there's this thing called ETIKA PERGURUAN where you have to obey certain codes of conduct (ie: dressing codes for teachers, where ONLY baju kurung is allowed for malay female teachers), but that does not necessarily means that we teachers talk like those retards you see in gerak khas drama.

have you seen the trailer of that movie syurga cinta for instance?why the heck did heliza talks like that? (talking slowly while smiling). its like she's on drugs.just because we are teachers it doesnt mean we give advice day and night and talk like we are reading out of a textbook.

lucky you're pretty, heliza. and awal, you can do me a favour and quit entertainment business already.

usually in movies or dramas, teachers are either depicted as a rigid nerd (who never makes jokes) or an abnormal misfit who wears tudung senget and sunglasses from the 50's.

to all of those who are involved in the making of any dramas or films that includes teachers as part of the cast, i have only one thing to say:

you cant even portray us accurately?go back to school.

today is saturday.no cocurricular activities, no extra class, no SBT, no meeting whatsoever.so why do i feel like im itching to get out of this house and go to school?im probably addicted to work, maybe.i am so annoying.

anyway i DID went to school this morning to send my colleague's assignment (im paid to do it for her), then i went to town for hotel hunting.in june im going back to semenanjung but in july and august papa will be coming here again.i know i know, its still WAY too early to look out for hotels, but like i said just now, i was itching to move about and do something.

oh by the way there is a rumor going around the school about me being pregnant.just now when i turned up at school wearing tight clothing with a belt, everyone scolded me and told me i should be wearing loose fitting clothes since i am now pregnant. err.....buncit sgt kah aku sampai diorang make that kind of assumption? ;p

so while hotel browsing at warisan square i ended up buying a present for teacher's day.next saturday our school will be having teachers day celebration and we teachers are to swap presents with each other.look what i bought:

today i stayed at school from 7.30am till 6pm straight.that totally exceeded office hour. i attended two meetings from 8am till 1 noon.i texted my husband during the meeting to complaint about my sore bum, and his words of advice were:

"the trick is, you sit only on the right butt cheek, and when it gets numb you switch to the left butt cheek"

i almost laugh and roll on the floor right in front of everyone when i read that msg, but the guru besar glared at me so i quickly pretended like i was jotting down the minute mesyuarat (i was the secretary)

talk about work.i wish teachers dont have to do so much secretarial work.like when i sat there in front of the pc this morning after the meeting, my gb just sighed heavily and shook his head when he saw my hopelessness in writing a formal letter. i told him i was trained to teach, not to remember where the dates and "saya yang menurut perintah" phrase is supposed to be.in the end, gb took over and ended up writing the letters himself, with me sitting next to him sambil buat muke bimbo. and he spent the whole afternoon correcting my letters and sending me off to the printing room to get them printed for like, the 34th time?

so that was it.we spent almost two hours writing THREE letters.for the rest of the evening i entered class as usual.

im surprised why am i still not tired at all.its already 9.30pm.its past my bedtime.

im in a happy mood.i cant explain why.its like im on drugs.i should probably double check the ingredients in that new detox tea i just had.

at the hotel where we stayed.the verdict: OK laa.. :) since the hotel is in one borneo building itself, it was so convenient for us.we totally made fun of the short distance between the mall and our room.the GSC and gloria jeans cafe were only a few steps away from where we stayed :)

phew.malasnyaaaa nak update.i just want to curl up in my bed and harrass my husband with phone calls.but i have to do this before the story gets obsolete.

on friday serra came all the way from pitas and had a sleepover at my house.there were so many things to catch up on that we talked to each other even in our sleep.hehe kidding. the next morning we met up with azreen (from kudat) shue and aida (from lahad datu) who also hapened to be in town.we hit the nearest mcd for breakfast because shue and aida were craving for some big breakfast (tempat diorang takde mcd).so while other tesl girls on the other side of the country gathered at izan's weding, we sabahan tesl girls gathered here in kk for the first time. amad and her bf joined us later that night.serra left after breakfast to fetch her parents at the airport and they headed back to pitas.

among the places we went to; one borneo of course (some of these girls earn almost rm5k on a monthly basis because they teach in the interior parts of sabah, (im talking about YOU, azreen) can you imagine, but they hardly get to spend their hard earned money due to lack of shopping complex in their area) so we were there from morning untill they practically close down the mall,

then we had dinner at restoran nasi padang at jesselton point while watching OIAM finale (amad and shue did the WAVE when tompok, i mean, tomok was announced as the winner while the rest of us covered our faces in embarrassment :) then followed by late night drinks at a local pub in tg aru beach. (yes, it was a pub, tapi kitorang peduli ape.we ordered hot choc)

next morning we had lunch at grace court with dj and her hubby (who's here for the weekend). dj got a little rounder and her belly is now visible. she was totally glowing. then we hung out a bit at city mall before everyone headed back to their respective places.

it has been a long long time since we got to get together and laugh like theres no tomorrow.it saddens me when they left.kk became such a lonely city for me when they are no longer here...

yay!!!

though i havent fully recovered, i still would like to think so.being sick and bed ridden for too long is very depressing. for FOUR consecutive days i couldnt eat and move. those were the worst four days in my life.

the doctor's diagnosis on my mc letter says i suffered viral fever, migrain, nauseous, gastric and diarrhea. i vomitted everyday, i couldnt even stand the taste of plain water. my room smells of vomit now.i went to the clinic twice, met two different doctors, and last night my housemate drove me to rafflesia medical centre because i insisted i want to be warded. then the last doctor i met gave me an injection (on my butt) and she jokingly asked me if i want to be detained in ward.i said yes, i dont care, give me as many injection you want, keep me in the ward, give me iv drips or whatever. anything. the pain was unbearable, i just didnt care anymore.

i was given 3 days mc. like papa said, if only we knew i would be given such a long break, we wouldve bought the flight ticket home straight away.at least balik rumah boleh manja manja dgn papa :(

the other night my father sent me a message that reads:

"doa banyak banyak.allah sayang orang sakit.waktu sakit doa akan cepat termakbul"

the minute i read that, i silently said my prayer "ya allah, may shafiq and i love each other and live happily together until the day we die".then i realize i was supposed to pray for my speedy recovery, not anything else! hehe bleh tak mcm tu? :)

this is my little ketam's boarding pass he left behind during his last visit here. i found it under my pile of clothes during the spring cleaning activity. i dont know why i grew so attached to it, throughout my three sick days i kept holding this thing.its not like he hasnt left anything else behind; i have his shirts, perfume, cds, sandals and shades with me now, but i was particularly attached to this one stupid boarding pass.i kept holding and looking at it.oh i miss you papa :(

i'm sure most of you noticed that dilla hasn't posted anything for quite some time since there were only crab posts piling up recently.
she's currently having a fever. she's been sick for about 3 days now.
if i'm not mistaken, it's related to viral fever (that's what the doc said, i think).
i tried to google it but since i only know crab language with limited vocabulary, i didn't understand a sh*t.
but i'm positive it doesn't have anything to do with selsema babi.
however, she's really ill and she can barely move.
so i hope you guys could help praying for her good health. thanks.

that's more than my salary per month for a day of his work.
and that's in alor setar. it could be a lot more in big cities like kl or penang.

my colleague asked me.

zaid : slalunya org dah kawen ni makin berisi. hang sama ja aku tgk?
aku : aku maintain ja. dah semulajadi tough nak buat cmna (yeah right).

but actually i've gained weight. from 49 kg to 52 kg (never in my life before i've reached 50 so it's an achievement to be proud of). my slacks and jeans are telling me that i'm getting buncit. luckily i wear baggy (but not over-sized) pants so i can still wear them. kalau pakai tight jeans mcm noh hujan or jonas brothers mmg tak bleh pi dah habaq hang.

it got me thinking. why do men gain weight after marriage?
it's usually only normal for women especially after labor but what about men?
is it because of less exercise? (mmg lama dah tak main bola, basketball, etc.)
is it because of more eating? more sleep? (sama ja mcm waktu anak teruna malu2 dulu.)
however, since she said i look sexy when buncit, i don't mind ;p

it is a universal truth that teachers (or whoever works in the school related field) love geeky activities like jamuan perpisahan, gotong royong, kem motivasi and bla bla bla.

i just got back from a jamuan perpisahan sk tansau which was held at The Roof Restaurant, Imperial International Hotel. though the venue is not far from where i live i chose to carpool with five other teachers from school. this is truly a rombongan cik kiah because throughout the 15mnts drive to and fro they couldnt stop talking about cheap kain langsir, baju ropol ropol, and what their kids had for breakfast. i just sat there quietly thinking "this is going to be me in 15 years" haha.

the luncheon started an hour late because we had to wait for gb.apparently he was late because he had to do some laundry first before coming. you know everyone tried hard to hold their laugh when they heard this.

oh i forgot to tell the reason behind this jamuan perpisahan. puan suzana cosmas, our head of english panel is leaving for PPD. congratulations to her, but good luck to us (there will be tons of work to do once she leaves)

everyone at school was being especially annoying today (and i was feeling extra sensitive). from the gay clerk to the IT guy to the pupils and gb himself, everyone succeeded at making me go ballistic, even over the smallest, simplest matter. i was having lunch in the staffroom today when gb passed by. to appear polite, i said "gb, jemput makan". his reply was "saya mau kamu suapkan saya boleh ka?"

aku rase nak lempang je orang tua nih.

and dont get me started with what the kids did today. it was nothing different from any other day, but today got irritated way too easily.one pupil pointed out that i only gave them 5 questions for today's quiz. i totally snapped by saying " why, you want 5 million questions?????"

sigh.i think its the PMS.my menses is due tomorrow.

honeymoon?

what i learnt from the teen flick 'american high school': every young married couple should have a mission. well we do have our own mission.that is to go for 20 honeymoons before we have a baby.is that ok? :)

day 1

papa arrived at kkia around 6pm.we went straight for dinner at a restaurant near tanjung aru beach. we watched the sun set as we wait for our orders.sgt cantik ok.

we drove to kundasang, departed from my house at about 9am in the morning.when we arrived the weather there was like, FREEZING. we checked in into kinabalu pine resorts and only left our room that night to get ourselves some dinner. we were lucky to be given a room in block P.before i came our friend shah suggested that we requested for any rooms from block P (because this is the only block that have balconies that face directly to mount kinabalu), but when i made the reservation last month i completely forgot about it, but when we came we ended up getting a room from this particular block anyway.how lucky is that? :)

after breakfast we returned to kk to see amad and her bf.azreen was supposed to be there too but she had other plans. we had lunch, window shopping. watched movies bla bla bla..regular stuff.that night papa and i stayed at the Rainforest Lodge, which is sittuated just above sugarbun cafe and pizza hut.

current mood: not amused.and here are a few questions i would love to get some answers to

number one: does EVERY kids in this school has bladder problem or something???sikit sikit nak pi toilet.sikit sikit nak pi toilet.tiap hari buat rombongan pegi toilet.habis sunyi sepi kelas.just now i heard cikgu bahar from his class shouting "ada pertandingan kencing ka di toilet tu?"

number two: do these kids have severe hearing problems?some day i would love to record all the necessary instructions on tape, and play it OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER again when i teach in class.

number three: do i look like an ustazah?or do i look like some random kakak kakak yang dtg hantar adik adik pg skolah?at first it was probably funny to be addressed as 'ustazah' or 'kakak', but its been nine months and they still dont know me?

number four: is it possible for the school to buy me a set of portable mic and speaker set so i can drag and use this thing to each and every class i teach?

i hate kids.i think they are the real causes of heart attacks and high blood preasures.remind me not to conceive any of these creatures anytime soon.

i want my crab.now!!

i came to work late today.
i was supposed to punch in at 8 a.m. but i was an hour late.
but i'm sure my boss would understand.
he knows i'm a good worker so tak sampai hati nak marah haha (padahal tgh cuak skang nih tak jumpa dia lg). bleh plak tulih blog dulu instead of terus buat kerja.

the reason i was late to work today:

cubaan emmanuel ~~adibahnoor~~ adebayor melipat bola lalu menjaringkan gol.
hebat tak hebat player2 arsenal nih Xp

a 'good' worker indeed.
luckily arsenal managed to get a draw with a precious away goal.
kalau tak sia2 ja bgn tidoq awai2 pg, pastu mai kerja lambat.

me: i cant believe the rumor about nad's marriage.its like, SO UNBELIEVEABLE! err..can i call you back?i want to call nadia and talk to her.

what i expected him to say: "tak payah la baby.its her problem, lets just mind our own business.."

but instead he said:
